<p>The Wagoneer&#8217;s cooling system is just barely adequate for the hot Houston summer weather. To help improve cooling I am going to upgrade the fan clutch from the normal duty part to the severe duty. The severe duty kicks in and engages the fan at a lower temperature and &#8220;slips&#8221; less. This enables the radiator fan to spin faster. </p>

<p> You want part number Hayden 2797.</p>

<p></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="715" src="https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-65-1024x715.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3454" srcset="https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-65-1024x715.png 1024w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-65-800x559.png 800w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-65-150x105.png 150w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-65-768x536.png 768w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-65-1536x1073.png 1536w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-65-2048x1430.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Old fan clutch on right. New Hayden 2797 already installed on the fan left.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Now the problem with the Hayden 2797 is that the bolt pattern does not exactly match what is needed on the AMC 360 water pump.</p>

<p>Solution? Cut out the smaller of the two bolt patterns into slots!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="655" src="https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-66-1024x655.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3455" srcset="https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-66-1024x655.png 1024w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-66-800x512.png 800w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-66-150x96.png 150w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-66-768x491.png 768w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-66-1536x982.png 1536w, https://longhornengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-66-2048x1310.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p></p>

<p>Not the best on job with the cut off wheel but it works. </p>
